Electrical Engineer

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Electrical Engineer to support the installation, commissioning, operation, and maintenance of utility-scale solar farm projects across the United Kingdom. The successful candidate will play a key role in ensuring the safe and efficient performance of electrical systems, substations, inverters, transformers, and associated infrastructure. Key Responsibilities

• ✓Install, commission, inspect, and maintain electrical systems within solar farm projects.
• ✓Perform fault-finding, troubleshooting, and root cause analysis on electrical equipment.
• ✓Carry out preventative and corrective maintenance activities.
• ✓Inspect and test LV and MV electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, and inverters.
• ✓Support commissioning activities for new solar farm installations.
• ✓Review electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
• ✓Ensure compliance with BS7671, HSE regulations, and industry standards.
• ✓Prepare maintenance reports, inspection records, and technical documentation.
• ✓Respond to electrical faults and emergency breakdowns.
• ✓Collaborate with project managers, site engineers, and operational teams.
• ✓Monitor system performance and identify opportunities for optimisation.
• ✓Support continuous improvement and operational efficiency initiatives.

Requirements

• ✓Degree, HNC, HND, NVQ Level 3, or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering.
• ✓Previous experience working on solar farms, renewable energy projects, power generation, or electrical infrastructure projects.
• ✓Strong understanding of LV and MV electrical systems.
• ✓Experience with solar inverters, transformers, switchgear, and protection systems.
• ✓Ability to interpret electrical drawings and technical schematics.
• ✓Knowledge of BS7671 Wiring Regulations.
• ✓Strong fault-finding and diagnostic skills.
• ✓Experience working within strict health and safety environments.
• ✓Full UK driving licence.
• ✓Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• ✓Right to work in the United Kingdom.
